Can you lend a hand?As an important local Youth Trust, BYH relies upon the help of many volunteers in administrative, fund-raising, youth work, handyman and Trustee roles. If you have time, expertise and enthusiasm that you can offer, you can be assured a warm welcome in a worthwhile project.
There is a wide range of work going on here and we are getting busier all the time, due to the valuable work that takes place and as new groups become involved. As a consequence, we are in need of some willing volunteers to help in these various areas. We have three main areas of activity: 1. Providing facilities and an environment in which youth / community work can thrive; 2. Assisting voluntary youth groups to operate safely, effectively and to become self sufficient; 3. Delivering direct youth work projects / services to young people and those that support them. We offer training and supervision and have helped many volunteers into employment.. So, if you want to gain some experience and references, then come and see us. All volunteers will be rigorously vetted and police checked, in line with our Safeguarding Policy, to protect vulnerable young people. If you have a few hours to spare to this worthwhile cause, and think that you can help, we'd love to hear from you. Trustees BYH is run by a small team of Trustees, with a lot of experience in their different fields. However, if you feel that you can bring something to the Youth House in the role of Trustee, then please get in touch with a current Trustee for a chat. Handyman With so many little maintenance jobs around the place, there is always some work for a volunteer handyperson. If you have experience, a few hours to spare, and are willing to help a small local charity, then please get in touch - we'd be glad to hear from you. Administration Telephones and emails are always needing attention. Organisational skills along with a friendly manner are essential for dealing with young people and professionals appropriately. Club Helpers We have several Youth Clubs operating at the Youth House which are mainly volunteer based. We are always looking for assistance with activities and Coffee Bar duties. All workers receive a DBS check and help with expenses incurred. If you want to get involved with a club then contact the Youth House for more information. Fund Raisers ... because there is never enough and always more to be done! We are constantly looking at new projects that need funding and have groups in need of help. Can you assist? ALL OF OUR VOLUNTEERS ARE SUBJECT TO DBS CHECKS To talk about our volunteering opportunities please telephone 01271 267272 and leave a message, or email us at [email protected] and we will get back to you. |
